A hierarchical supervisory wind power plant controller

Abstract The operation of future wind power plants (WPPs) will rely on maximizing overall profit rather than production. Factors like current electricity price, grid code compliance, and maintenance costs affect operational decision. Therefore, it is expected that plant control strategies trade different objectives while respecting the industrial practice, where levels in hierarchy may be provided by equipment vendors. This work proposes a controller aims to track an operator command at WPP level reject low-frequency loading due turbulent winds individual turbines. respects which turbine-level takes precedence, interacting only via set-point commands each turbine. algorithm based parallel loops along with look-up tables gain scheduling, its simplicity effectiveness make well-suited for applications. Preliminary simulation results 32-turbine indicate there significant synergy effect coordinating turbines plant. Structural loads can reduced certain without excessively burdening others, accurate plant-wide tracking still provided.
